El flechador del cielo

Historia de Moctezuma Ilhuicamina, guerrero, se lo llamo el flechador del cielo por su valentia e incomparable punteria usando el arco y la flecha. Se dice que sus flechas impactaban y herian a los astros.

Introduccion: Pocas tradiciones pueden evocarse que sean tan bellas como ésta y que tanto se presten a la interpretación artística, fundándose en el nombre de un emperador azteca aguerrido y joven, que dejó en la trayectoria de las flechas que disparaba una estela de leyendas gráficamente poéticas.

Reseña: Ese nombre fue el de Moctezuma Ilhuicamina, sucesor de Izcoatl en el trono de México, en pleno apogeo del imperio de los mexicas. No hay que confundir a este rey y emperador con el otro Moctezuma, el último, que llevaba el apelativo de xocoyotzin, esto es, xocoyotito o último, y también se le conocía por Moctezuma segundo. No: Moctezuma el primero era Moctezuma Ilhuicamina, y este nombre quería decir en azteca Flechador del Cielo. (De ihuícatl, cielo y mina, flecha.

Y lo llamaron así los dignatarios del imperio y los jóvenes guerreros y sacerdotes que le rodeaban porque, según ellos decían, era tal su puntería con las flechas y tan potente la fuerza de su arco en sus ágiles y fuertes brazos, que por las noches se ejercitaba en disparar flechazos a las estrellas y daba en el blanco, habiendo quien contara haber visto caer astros heridos por el dardo del flechador, del Flechador del cielo!.

Fue Moctezuma Ilhuicamina el que dio lugar a muchas creaciones estéticas, con la peregrina ocurrencia de flechar a los astros y la leyenda que sobre tal hazaña tejieron sus contemporáneos y camaradas de guerra, cuando era príncipe de la dinastía de Izcoatl. Y también fue por eso por lo que le eligieron para gobernar el imperio, precisamente cuando los de Acolhuacán celebraban las exequias del fallecido emperador rival, Izcoatl que, aunque enemigo estratégico, por ser rey de México, había ayudado a Netzahualcoyótl a recobrar el trono que le arrebatara Maxtla. menazaban los chalcas a los tenochas recién proclamado Moctezuma candidato a emperador. Al saberlo Ilhuicamina, organizó su ejército y se fue sobre Chalco, trabándose fuertes batallas, hasta que los chalcas propusieron una tregua para celebrar las fiestas en honor de Camaxtli, al que consideraban divino.

Reanudados los combates, Ilhuicamina derribó a nacanazos a doscientos veinticinco enemigos y, por lo que hacía a sus flechazos a distancia, se dijo que sus saetas eran como rayos que fulminaban. Venció a los chalcas, trayendo a Tenochtitlán subido número de prisioneros que sacrificar en honor de Huitzilopochtli, y durante esos sacrificios se llevó a cabo su coronación, una de las más fastuosas de aquellos tiempos. a historia anota que Ilhuicamina abusó del sacrificio de prisioneros, irritando con ello a los dioses, que desencadenaron una serie de tormentas sobre la ciudad lacustre, habiendo llegado el agua de las lluvias hasta lo más alto de los teocalis. Moctezuma el bravo, llevado en andas por sus adeptos, tan valientes como él, como el agua casi al cuello, para conjurar las tempestades, cosa que se logró. El Flechador del cielo no temía ni a los elementos… Por eso se atrevía, por las noches, a apuntar sus flechas a los luceros de Dios…
