El Ahuizotl

Esta es una leyenda poco conocida….pero el significado de Ahuizotl es Perro de agua …bestia mistica del agua.

Leyenda mexicana del Ahuizotl. Epoca colonial

Cuenta una leyenda que en la época de la conquista… Hernán Cortez escribía a su rey los pormenores de lo que veía y de lo que acontecía en lo que ellos llamaron la nueva España ..México  Tenochtitlán, 

Cortez se maravillo de la infraestructura que tenia la ciudad de los Aztecas, describe en una  carta dirigida a su Rey Don Fernando Hernando. 

Existe un mercado donde se venden todo tipo de aves , de todo tipo de plumajes, búho, garzas ….. aves nunca vistas en España… de muchos y variados colores , de cantos celestiales, criaturas de verdad esplendidas y maravillosas. 

También existe un lugar donde se venden plantas que curan todo tipo de enfermedades. Y entre sus calles existen medico y quienes elaboran los preparados medicinales….

Todo está ordenado por calles…nunca se mezclan…

También existe una calle donde vende animales para consumo humano y animales para los preparados medicinales. 

Destaca mencionar que entre existen muchos y variados jamás vistos por ni un hombre en toda España.

Maravillado Cortez contaba a su rey de los animales de la infraestructura del al ciudad de sus leyes y de sus formas de pesar y medir, de cómo el comercio se llevaba a grandes dimensiones y que venían de diferentes y muy variados lugares. 

Pero sin duda lo que le llamo la atención de los animales fue la leyenda del Ahuizotl ….. 

Una bestia no más grande que un perro normal, pero con una característica muy especial…….en su cola, la terminación no era normal, no terminaba en una punta…

Tenía una  garra con la cual mataba a sus presas…. 

Un día mientras reparaba una galera….

Los marineros escucharon el llanto de un niño….. 

Extrañados se apresuraron a ayudar al niño…pues sus llantos provenían del lago… 

Ellos pensaron que se estaba ahogando el niño… 

Pero para su sorpresa, nunca vieron al niño…. 

Se aceraron mas a la orilla para distinguir de donde salía ese llanto y ver si podían ayudar a ese niño que lloraba. 

Cuándo de la nada una garra jalo al marinero tirándolo de la embarcación y lo arrastro hasta el fondo del lago…. 

Asustado su acompañante se dio prisa para avisar que en el lago habían matado a su amigo … 

Salieron a buscar el cuerpo del marinero sin tener éxito 

Al regresar  los nativos les explicaron que había sido el Ahuizotl 

Que es una animal místico y sagrado…. 

Los marineros se  dijeron que ni un animal podría llevarse a un hombre de esa forma que eso era obra del diablo.. 

Pero las desapariciones era cada vez más constantes y los hombres no se atrevían a salir solo … 

Y menos si oían llorar a un niño…. 

Después de la gran inundación en la ciudad de México los españoles estaban por cambiar la cede du su capital y trasladarla…. A le estado de Morelos o a Veracruz…. 

Pero tomaron una decisión más radical….decidieron cambiar el curso de los lagos y así desecar el gran lago que rodeaba a la ciudad azteca… 

Debido a ese cambio se extinguió el animal más exótico y agresivo que vivo en el periodo pre hispánico
