Leyendas urbanas de mexico
Juan Aldama y su hermano Demetrio quedaron sorprendidos. A unos cuantos metros de donde se encontraban, sobre la carretera 180, vieron un camión de carga que, incendiándose y haciendo ruido con la bocina, transitaba dando tumbos sobre la costera del Golfo de México. Los hermanos Aldama, campesinos y vecinos de Las Palmas, en el Estado de veracruz, declararon que vieron al camión cuando venía ardiendo sobre la carretera. Eran aproximadamente las 16:00 horas del 25 de mayo de 1973. El “camión incendiado por los chaneques”.
De inmediato acudieron a prestar ayuda al conductor, una vez que éste logró detener el camión sobre la cuneta. Lo bajaron y auxiliaron: no tenía ninguna quemadura de importancia pero gritaba, exaltado, que se había quedado sin frenos y que se quemaba. Entre todos intentaron apagar el fuego, pero nada pudieron hacer para sofocarlo. Las llamas se propagaron rápidamente quemando las tarimas de madera y tdo el material combustible sobre el vehículo. Los asientos, en la cabina del conductor, se convirtieron en cenizas y algunos de sus resortes se doblaron por el calor; las llantas continuaron quemándose por varias horas. El conductor del camión, una vez repuesto del susto, huyó con rumbo desconocido.
El siniestro fue reportado en varios periódicos de la República Mexicana, llegando a aparecer en el Novedades, uno de los principales diarios de la capital mexicana.
Las compañías e seguros y los Miniserios Públicos reciben al mes varios reportes de autos y camiones quemados por diversas causas, principalmente debido a accidentes automovilísticos. Sin embargo, estos accidentes no son tan importantes como para que su crónica aparezca en la mayor parte de los periódicos del país. ¿Qué tenía de especial este caso para que se le diera tanta importancia?
Siete días antes había ocurrido otro siniestro similar muy cerca de ahí. Un caso que ha entrado en la historia de la ufología mexicana como “el caso del camión quemado por los ovnis”. Este suceso ocurrió en el mismo estado de Veracruz y, supuestamente, estuvieron involucrados unos diminutos seres conocidos en la zona con el nombre de chaneques.
Como bien ha apuntado Héctor Escobar, el caso de Las Palmas no era más que una copia del suceso ocurrido el 18 de mayo en Cintalapa, aunque más simple. La diferencia entre ambos era que en Cintalapa, como veremos, los elementos que no se queman fácilmente fueron los que, supuestamente, ardieron, y en Las Palmas, se dijo, no se quemaron los productos combustibles.
Como elementos de extrañeza se apuntaron: que el parabrisas de cristal del camión no se había quemado; que en las cercanías del camión se hallaron fragmentos de cartón y de mica (silicato aluminicopotàsico hidratado con cantidades variables de Magnesio, Manganeso, Fierro y Titanio) sin quemar; y que también se encontró un costal de yute (fibra de henequén) sin dañar.
En cuanto al cristal y a la mica no era tan extraño que no hubieran sufrido daños, ya que el primero era un parabrisas del tipo de cristal templado y la segunda, como se sabe, en algún tiempo se utilizó como aislante térmico en algunos aparatos eléctricos. El pedazo de cartón tal vez no pertenecía al camión o llegó al lugar con l viento, y el costal del yute era del mismo tipo del que utilizan los campesinos de la zona para guardar sus cosechas. Los hermanos Aldama lo habían utilizado para tratar de apagar el fuego, probablemente lo dejaron olviddo. En realidad nada había e misterioso. Ni siquiera la huída del conductor, pues seguramente por algún error suyo en el mantenimiento o la conducción del camión, había sufrido este incendio o temía que le acusaran y le obligaran a pagar los destrozos.
Lo que hizo “famoso” este caso fueron los sucesos ocurridos días antes en la carrtera Tinaja a Tierra Blanca y de los que a continuación nos vamos a ocupar.
