Leyenda de terror que tiene como protagonista a una mujer que vive extraños fenomenos luego de perderse en un bosque.
Empecé a andar sumida en mis pensamientos y de repente me encontré rodeada de árboles y demás arbustos.
Miré hacia todas direcciones pero era todo igual. El suelo era pedregoso pero cubierto de verdín. No había ningún tipo de rastro del hombre. Ni arbustos aplastados, ni marcas de huellas en el suelo. Estaba claro que hacía tiempo que nadie pasaba por allí.
Debería haberme envuelto el pánico, pues me había perdido en un bosque, literalmente dicho. Pero, en cambio, me sentí arropada por esos árboles. Sus troncos eran gruesos y de formas retorcidas. El aire formaba un silbido especial al chocar contra las largas hojas y la temperatura era idónea. Se veían destellos blancos por todos los sitios pues la luna se filtraba por donde podía entre aquellas enormes ramas. El aire frío contrastaba con la caliente temperatura y eso daba una sensación satisfactoria, como si estuviera drogada por algo que no sabía que era. El silencio era sepulcral, no se oía nada excepto el suave silbido del aire.
Empecé a andar y deseé quedarme allí de por vida. No pensaba en nada, simplemente andaba, disfrutando cada partícula de esa maravilla. Entonces me invadió el sueño y me tumbé en el suelo. Aunque había piedras me pareció el más confortable del mundo. Cerré los ojos y entre el aroma de fresca hierba me dormí.
Al día siguiente, me desperté en mi cama. Pensé que todo había sido un sueño, pues había sido demasiado surrealista para que hubiera pasado en la realidad.
El sol brillaba en el pueblo, de modo que me decidí a dar un paseo con una mínima esperanza de poder encontrar el lugar de mis sueños. Empecé a andar como el día anterior y lo encontré. No había sido un sueño.
Paseé, esta vez con el sol filtrándose entre las ramas y dando un toque dorado que idealizaba más el lugar. Me senté en el suelo y me quedé inmóvil. No hice nada, sólo respiré el fresco aire y observé. Observé cuidadosamente durante largo rato. Para mí el tiempo se detuvo en ese momento. Tenía la misma sensación que el día anterior, como si estuviera flotando. Pasaron las horas y sin quererlo se hizo de noche. Volví a casa sin saber como.
Cada día de los siguientes iba a ese bosque. Me quedaba observándolo, paseando sus hermosos caminos y saboreando su olor especial. Tantas horas pasé allí hasta que me absorbió por completo. A cualquier hora deseaba estar allí. Tanto lo deseaba que me desconcentraba y no prestaba atención a mis padres. No podía vivir sin ese bosque. Sentía que me faltaba el aire si no iba allí. Así que una noche me escapé y volví.
Entonces me senté en el suelo como siempre y empecé mi meditación diaria. Pero ese día no iba a ser como los demás. De repente todo se volvió diferente. Lo primero que sentí fue la temperatura. Ese aire cálido que antes flotaba se convirtió en uno gélido que me dio escalofríos por todo el cuerpo. El olor ya no era de hierba fresca si no de algo repugnante, como podrido. Me levanté y observé intentando averiguar que le pasaba a mi bosque. Pero una sensación de terror me envolvió, ya que no me pareció seguro sino todo lo contrario.
Me entraron ganas de salir de allí, así que empecé a andar a paso ligero hacia la salida. Pero después de andar un largo rato, volví al mismo lugar. Me entró el pánico, pues mis ganas de dejar ese bosque aumentaron, de modo que empecé a correr.
De repente algo me cogió del tobillo y me caí. Mientras mi labio sangraba me levanté dispuesta a correr todo lo que podía. Y así lo hice. Mientras corría, el silbido del aire se convirtió en aullido, los troncos de retorcidas formas parecía que me observaban con cruel aspecto y cada vez me costaba más correr. Y llegué al mismo sitio. El agotamiento se unió a mi desesperación e hice un último esfuerzo. Corrí lo más que pude hacia otras direcciones mientras el bosque me gritaba en los oídos y el aire frío me helaba los huesos. De repente, las piernas se me paralizaron y con un gemido caí.
Levanté la vista con mi labio sangrante y observé que enfrente de mí se erguía un gran árbol idéntico a sus compañeros. Me quedé mirándolo y no se como, en ese momento supe que nunca saldría de ese bosque. Un imán muy fuerte me atraía hacía ese árbol y en un momento sus formas retorcidas de empezaron a mover con un ruido ensordecedor, abriéndose como una flor en primavera. Esa fuerza me atraía más y más hasta que me encontré dentro del árbol. Sus formas entonces se empezaron a cerrar hasta que todo fue oscuridad. Estaba dentro del árbol. Se hizo el silencio.
Mis lágrimas recorrían mi rostro mientras yo golpeaba en todos los sitios son todas mis fuerzas. Hasta que un dolor indescriptible se apoderó de mi cuerpo. Me paré sobresaltada. Empecé a sangrar más de mi labio. Me dolía todo. Entonces grité y salpiqué sangre que salió de mi garganta. No sabía que me pasaba. Mis lágrimas se habían tornado rojas y mi nariz sangraba a borbotones. Me ahogaba. De repente me quedé inmóvil.
Ahora podía ver dentro de mi tronco de árbol tras una cortina púrpura que ocultaba mis ojos. Sabía que ese iba a ser mi hogar para siempre. Sigo aquí. Mi antigua personalidad no se ha muerto del todo. Aunque forme parte de este bosque y sea su máxima aliada, aun tengo recuerdos de mi vida anterior. Mis padres, el pueblo y mis agradables visitas a este bosque antes de que me mostrara su verdadera cara. No sé como, puedo observar el resto del bosque por si viene alguien que pueda acompañarnos. Le engañaremos hasta que sea demasiado tarde.
Le atraparemos como me atrapó a mí. Y así viviré hasta que a este árbol se le acabe la vida y con la suya la mía también."
