Puerto Rico: La capilla del Cristo

Leyenda de Puerto Rico

Cuenta la leyenda que la Capilla del Cristo se erigió para honrar un milagro.

Dice la leyenda, que alrededor del año 1750 aproximadamente, se había efectuado una carrera de caballos a lo largo de la calle Del Cristo.

Uno de los participantes no pudo detener su caballo y se cayó por el precipicio.

Don Tomas Mateo Prats, que era el secretario de gobierno para aquel entonces, invocó al Santo Cristo de la Salud y que el joven que cayó por el precipicio se salvó. Por agradecimiento al Santo Cristo de la Salud, Don Tomas Mateo Prats ordenó construir la Capilla.

La verdad, no es esa.

Estudios recientes hechos por Don Adolfo de Hostos confirman que el joven que cayó por el acantilado, sí murió. Y que Don Tomas Mateo Prats ordenó erigir la Capilla para evitar tragedias futuras.
